Information

The site-specific installation »Bruchstücke« contains fragments of wood, which were broken by hand. The surface of each fragment is covered with graphite. The installation is put on the ground. Black strings interfere the closed shape to seemingly move the still installation. The strings are wrapped around individual fragments and reach to the ceiling. Within the fragments are speakers that make crackling and rustling sounds audible. This way the limits of the installation are fluent, not measurable.

The installation is about a process of destruction and shaping: each piece of wood is broken by hand and covered with graphite. This treatment is a dedication to the object itself. While the distraction seems like an act of violence, the form becomes free and gets transformed due the covering of graphite. »Bruchstücke« is form and form resolution in one. The fragments build a shape that results in free chaotic assembly.
